What occurs between the two layers of meninges?

Other conditions, such as meningitis, involve inflammation of the meninges but do not specifically refer to an event occurring between the layers. Cerebral thrombosis refers to a clot in the cerebral vessels, and cerebral edema is swelling of the brain. Neither of these conditions directly relates to the meninges or specifically highlights occurrences within the subarachnoid space.
